Tutorial for creating the Sew, Show 'n' Tell blog post

Welcome to blogging! Now that you have administrator privlidges it is time to learn how to post the photos on our Sew, Show, 'n' Tell blog. This is the blog page that we are using

Because you have administrator privligeds, when you are signed in, there should be options at the top of the page that only administrators can see. To start working on a post go to the icon at the top right of the page that looks like a pen. Click on it.

Now you can get started. It will take you to a page with a column on the left that has options to select as seen below.

To start, use the +New Post button on the top. To modify a post you have already been working on go to Posts just underneath that.

Create a title for the post. Go to the photos icon and select it. A box will then appear under it as shown. I always use the upload from computer option.

Once you select upload from computer this is the screen that appears. Click on the choose files button.

Now you can go to wherever you saved your pictures. (I actually just save my photos that I will use in the downloads section of my computer. This is just my personal choice. You can save them anywhere you like as long as you know where to find them.)

Select all of the photos you want to add. (Hold the Ctrl button down while you make multiple selections) Then hit the Open button.

The photos will then appear on a screen that looks like this. Each photo needs to have a blue frame on it in order to be selected. The photos usually are automatically selected but the program sometimes doesn't automatically select the last photo. If this happens just click on it and a blue frame will appear. Now hit the blue Select button at the bottom of the page.

The photos now appear on the post page. It is now time to size them and add captions. To make the bar with icons appear, right click on the photo. Select the photos icon.
Once you click on the photos icon, a box will appear allowing you to resize the photo.

To add a caption under the photo, right click on the photo. The toolbar will appear. Select this icon.

At any time you can go to the top right of the page and preview how the post will look or save your work. By clicking on the arrow beside the word Preview, the box will appear as shown. You can then select to Preview post or save post. This will save as a draft. Nobody else will be able to see the post until you hit the publish button.

Change the publishing date to the date we had the meeting. By doing this, once you publish the post the date of the meeting will appear at the top of the page beside the title.

Note if you are changing the publishing date before you actually publish the change will not show in the preview. The change will only show when you actually publish the post.

Challenges can occur if you try to change the order of the photos. It can be unpredictable and sometimes captions don't seem to move with the photos. It is just the nature of this blog. If you must change the order of the photos, try to do so before you add captions. As with anything, after a bit of practice the process of creating a post seems easier after a bit of practice.
